Plumbing

Ritesh(rich) M. Oak Ridge, TN

Water occasionally overflows out of flex pipe connected to washer in a below ground basement. Washer pumps out during rinse cycle fine.. never had problem during washing. Problem looks to be due to uneven sloping of the pipe connecting to main sewer line. The adapter ( black flex time with metal clamps at ends) is not level as one side is higher than other may be causing gushing water from plumbing to back flow into washer. So the fix may be as simple as lifting the pipe about an inch to slope with main line and replacing flex adapter with PVC one.
