My daughter needs to have her motion sensor light installed over her back porch. I am her father and attempted to install it on 10/9/2016. The new light she has includes shades (covers) over the flood light bulbs. The old light that was there never really worked correctly because the dawn to dusk sensor turned the light off as soon as the flood lights came on. So way too much reflected light from the soffit triggered the sensor. The old one did not have shades on the bulbs. The mounting box is too high for the new light as the shades hit the soffit therefore not mountable where it is. The mounting box needs to be moved down the fascia far enough for the shades to clear the soffit. Four at most six inches should be more than enough. The wire is too short to just move the box down so a junction box mounted high on the inner porch wall where the lead wire is visible would be a solution. From the new junction box a longer wire to the lowered mounting box would solve the wire problem and give her light when she comes home at night.
