Oh, man... Well, we bought our new home about a year ago, and didn't realize until after we had moved in, that all of the seemingly white trim, cabinets, and doors throughout the house were not actually white, but in fact an odd peachy-tinted ivory/off-white. And even worse, this horrible paint used throughout the house has a gummy/rubbery consistency, and somewhat readily peels off of most of the surfaces it has been applied to (with mostly unprepped, stained oak wood underneath)- but not so consistently as to easily allow complete removal by peeling. I'm currently in the process of stripping and repainting the kitchen cabinets (which, aside from the interior side of our front door, seemed to get the worst of this botched paint job), but it's taking forever, and I'm seriously reconsidering my resolve to DIY it... and I haven't even started on the cabinet doors, or the lower cabinets. I also recently noticed that the tan wall paint in the living room, kitchen, and downstairs hallway (all of which I had hoped to repaint sometime in the future) is also scratching/scuffing off in a few sections- with a bright, glossy, *orange* color underneath (I wish I was exaggerating). I'm at a loss here. I have no idea how to proceed, or if it's even worth trying to do myself, or how much it will cost to outsource any of it to a professional. I hope you'll be able to help. Thank you for your time.
