Electrical Wiring or Panel Upgrade

Thomas K. Bath, MI

New air conditioner installed a little over 1 year ago. All permits pulled and inspection completed. When compressor starts, get a rattle noise. Air conditioning company says unit is ok. Problem is that wires are vibrating within conduit. Electrical company that did install said electrical meets code and was inspected. Current run is about 65 feet in conduit with 10-2 wiring on 40 amp breaker. Per plate on air conditioner, minimum circuit amps are 23.5. What would it cost to run new wire not in conduit? Should it be 8-2 or is 10-2 ok? Run is in unfinished basement with exposed joists. Ceiling height about 8 feet.
