Larger window projects that usually involve installing or replacing several windows in a home can be entered into a fixed rate contract. In a fixed rate agreement, the window company will estimate the cost of the whole window project from purchasing the windows and materials, installing them and the labor cost, and then just bill the client for the entire expense. Generally, the fixed rate price can be negotiated and can be based upon your allotted budget for the project.

Window Blinds

Charles T. Bluffton, IN

I have a 4x4 skylight on a flat roof that lets in a lot of heat in the summer. It has a horizontal blackout shade that draws across it, mounted on the inside of its opening (photo available if that will help) , but that blocks all the light when closed. Could a second, somewhat larger shade be mounted below it, fastened on the outside of the frame, that was transparent (or scattered the light) so I could close it to stop the heat from getting down in the summer but still have all the light? And easily slid open when I want to actually open the skylight to let air in or out?
