Electrical Wiring or Panel Upgrade

Judith T. Spring Hill, FL

The house is over 50 years old. Some of the outlets are old and need updating. Also, the living room needs a ceiling light. And the electric in the living room dims after you turn the light on. The basement needs a room to get electricity. The outlets don't work at all. Something about not grounded or something. Might want different kitchen lighting. Maybe, depending on the cost of the other things.

Electrical Wiring or Panel Upgrade

Gwen M. Saint Petersburg, FL

I am under contract to purchase a 1947 house. The home inspection revealed a hot wire at the panel, as well as some other issues around the house. I would like a quote for how much the electrical repairs will be. These are the issues raised in the home inspection report: -The majority of the electrical outlets throughout are two hole electrical outlets. They are ungrounded electrical outlets. The electrical outlet in the top floor bathroom is a standard type outlet. it should be GFCI safety electrical outlet. The main floor bathroom does not have a conventional wall outlet. Its electrical outlet is built into the wall light and is considered unsafe. -There is a conduit pipe in the garage that has improperly splice wires at two points. There is an improperly spliced electrical wire above the main beam in the basement. -There is an open knockout slots in the electrical panel cover. This is a safety issue The main electrical service cable does not have a drip loop at the point where it mounts to the house. In the backyard there are exposed electrical wires stemming from a conduit pipe that are attached to an exposed and broken outlet. -The electric heat in the breezeway was producing an electrical burning smell upon startup. The wires in the electrical panel were over heating from the use of the electric baseboard heat. -The electrical outlets are standard two hole ungrounded type outlets. They should be GFCI safety protective outlet. There is an improperly terminated electrical wire beneath the kitchen stove.
